Network counselling Case Study
Network Counselling is a professional counselling and training agency providing professional counselling services on an affordable basis. Network Counselling needed to secure new premises to reduce the cost of renting
The opportunity to buy their own premises would allow Network Counselling to have a more sustainable future to allow them to maximise funds for developing counselling services for those who really need it. With shorter waiting periods that the NHS (it can take up to 12 months until some patients are seen) Network Counselling provides a fundamental service for those from a lower social economic background that could not access mental health treatment otherwise.
Bristol and Bath Regional Capital helped source investment for the loan after Network Counselling had previously approached independently several investors without success. The organisation was looking to raise a maximum loan investment of £350,000 to purchase and develop its own premises in Central Bristol.
Purchasing the new building has allowed Network Counselling to be more sustainable by reducing the cost they had when previously renting. The building has independent training facilities that can be hired out. The fees from room hire, training, and client donations, together with external grants and gifts make Network Counselling financially sustainable. The organisation expects to increase its counselling capacity by 20% after the acquisition of the building.
“From day one of working with BBRC I realised that they really understood what Network was about, and most specifically our aims for raising the funds and what would and would not work for us. They soon demonstrated that throughout the organisation they had the expertise, knowledge and contacts to make a real difference to our project within a short time frame. We were kept regularly informed of progress by Joy, our personal project adviser, through clear and informative weekly emails and BBRC helped us find a supportive lender in Triodos Bank, allowing us to achieve so much more than we had hoped for and to keep our project on track. A great service that was both personal, inspired confidence and delivered.” Nick Ruff, General Manager, Network Counselling
“It is very difficult for me to actually put into words the depth of gratitude I have to Network. My time there has had a profound impact on my future and there will never be enough descriptive words to show my thanks.” Anon
